FAQ
What is personality coaching?
Personality coaching is a structured, evidence-based process for shifting the personality traits — like extraversion, conscientiousness, or neuroticism — that shape how you show up in your work, relationships, and daily life.
It's grounded in decades of research showing that the Big Five traits aren't fixed. With the right techniques, you can dial them up or down so they better match the life you actually want to live. Think less "find yourself" and more "fine-tune yourself."
Unlike therapy, it isn't about diagnosing or treating mental illness. And unlike most life coaching, it isn't about goal-setting or accountability alone — it's about changing the underlying personality patterns that make certain goals feel impossible in the first place.
How do I choose between one-on-one coaching, the Personality Action Plan, and the Personality Edit?
The right program depends on how much guidance you want and how deep you want to go.
The Personality Action Plan is the best starting point if you want a brief, self-guided intro — you'll identify the trait most getting in your way and create a focused plan to start shifting it. It's built for people who like to learn and apply on their own.
The Personality Edit is a comprehensive, mostly self-guided course covering all five traits, plus monthly group office hours so you can ask questions and stay accountable. It's the right fit if you want the full system at your own pace, with light support built in.
One-on-one coaching is the most personalized option — a customized plan, weekly accountability, and direct access to me. It's the right call if you're working through something specific or you learn best with a person in your corner.
How do I know it is the right time?
If you’re waiting for the “perfect” time, it’s probably never going to come (life is busy—I get it!). The truth is, there’s no better time to start prioritizing you. This program is about helping you build the future you want even while life is happening. If you’re feeling stuck, now is exactly the right time.
Is there a refund policy?
Pricing is listed on each program's page, ranging from a low-cost self-guided plan to comprehensive courses and personalized one-on-one packages. Payment plans are available for Personality Coaching and The Personality Edit
Because these are coaching and self-development programs rather than clinical mental health care, they aren't covered by insurance or billed against HSA/FSA accounts.
All sales are final. You get the full curriculum and tools as soon as you sign up, so refunds aren't offered. If you're unsure which program is the right fit, reach out support@personality-compass.com before you buy and I'll help you choose.
How long does it take to change a personality trait?
Meaningful, lasting trait change typically takes about three to four months of consistent, intentional practice — not overnight, but not years either. That timeline reflects both what the research shows and what I see clinically: focused, targeted work over a contained window can produce roughly two decades' worth of natural personality change.
Each of my programs is built around that runway. The Personality Action Plan takes about 90 minutes to complete and gives you a personalized map plus the tools to execute on your own over the following three months. The Personality Edit and one-on-one coaching both span three to four months and provide ongoing support — group office hours in the course, weekly sessions in coaching — so you're not just starting strong but actually finishing the work.
Can you really change your personality as an adult?
Yes — decades of research now show that personality traits are meaningfully changeable in adulthood, with the right approach.
In my own clinical trials, I've watched clients show roughly twenty years' worth of natural personality change in fewer than twenty weeks of targeted treatment. That's possible because the Big Five traits — extraversion, conscientiousness, neuroticism, agreeableness, and openness — aren't fixed wiring. They're patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior, and patterns can be re-trained.
The catch is that change doesn't happen by accident. It takes intention, the right techniques, and consistent practice over weeks and months — which is exactly what these programs are designed to give you.
Can I actually ditch perfectionism and people-pleasing?
Yes — both are trait-driven patterns (rooted in high neuroticism & high agreeableness), and both can be meaningfully reduced with the right work. The goal isn't to flip into someone who doesn't care or never tries; it's to turn down the volume on self-criticism and over-accommodation so you can do good work and keep warm relationships without disappearing inside them.
Can introverts become extraverts?
Introverts can absolutely build more outgoing, energetic, and assertive habits. The goal usually isn't a personality transplant but a wider range — so being outgoing becomes a tool you can pick up when you need it, while you still get to love your alone time. Importantly, there isn’t a right or best level of this trait. It is about figuring out the level that best fits your goals.
Is it possible to become more disciplined as an adult?
Yes — discipline is part of the personality trait called conscientiousness. If you've always thought of yourself as "just not a disciplined person," that story is more changeable than you've been led to believe. With the right plan, the disciplined version of you can become the default version of you within months, not years.
